Tribune suggests former Iowa coach Steve Alford may be Indiana candidate March 31, 2008

Indiana is hoping to unveil its new basketball coach before the Final Four kicks off Saturday in San Antonio, according to a report on ESPN.com. The Web site also reported that Hoosiers athletic director Rick Greenspan is expected to be on the road this weekend to begin interviewing candidates.

According to another site, flightaware.com, a plane left Bloomington’s airport Saturday night for Albuquerque, where Hoosiers icon Steve Alford currently works as the head coach of New Mexico. …

A source with ties to Indiana reports that Alford’s contract with New Mexico does not include a buyout clause, which would make him an attractive candidate. …
