Hutcherson [PHOTO] was one of only three women in the Yale University School of Music, where she received a two-year certificate in music theory in 1939. …

[T]he academic world called again, and in 1955 she received her doctorate in music from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. She taught for 27 years at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, where a music studio has been endowed in her name.
